I see London, I see France
The French response to rioters has been given and it's pretty much what anyone would expect, knowing the history of the French. This time, they've only metaphorically dropped their rifles: Instead, the Prime Minister has announced ‘a raft of measures’, although, as rafts go, this one doesn’t seem likely to make it to shore. The measures include ‘the creation of an anti-discrimination agency’, ‘20,000 job contracts with local government agencies’ reserved for those in the less fashionable arrondissements, an extra E100 million for ‘associations’ in said neighbourhoods, etc. The children threw a tantrum and they gave them more candy. Fantastic. I'm sure that will discourage further problems. posted by the wolf | 2:33 PMon this |
