It has become very stylish, this week, to march about and scream and holler that the Coalition should leave Iraq now that the regime has fallen. I read story after story about this group or that demanding that the U.S. and its allies should depart the region quickly (there seems to be disagreement about whether they're allowed to restore utilities, etc. first).

Will someone please show me anything that says that the intention is otherwise? I've looked for articles, quotes, or policy documents declaring that Iraq is to become a colony of some sort and I can't find them. No evidence that a 51st, Iraqi, star will be added to U.S. flag anytime soon; nothing to indicate that Baghdad will soon be under Her Majesty's crown; no one declaring that anyone in the Coalition wants to do anything other than restore order and hand the country over to Iraqi citizens to run for themselves.

Someone, please explain what the protesting is all about.
