Chief Warrant Officers David Williams and Ronald Young, Jr., both former POWs in Iraq, were the opening guests on the Late Show with David Letterman last night. I have to say that it was a fascinating interview, and their account of their ordeal revealed their bravery, intelligence, character, and senses of humor.

I don't know quite how they did it, but they explained their trip to hell and back, conveying a sense of how trying it was, but still managed to get some laughs along the way. Having people like this out there definitely makes me feel better about national security.

FOOTNOTE: His respect for firefighters, policemen, teachers, and the military has been obvious for years -- even pre-9/11 -- but I think Dave deserves some recognition for having these guys on as his "main" guests, and setting a good example of how to help honor these guys.
