This is interesting:

Saddam Hussein's eldest son, Uday, is considering surrendering to U.S. forces, but so far has been reluctant to do so because of a tough negotiating posture by the U.S. government, a third party with knowledge of the discussions told The Wall Street Journal.

But this crosses over into intriguing:

Saddam Hussein is also alive and in suburban Baghdad, the person familiar with Uday's surrender discussions said he has been told by a Saddam relative. He added that the deposed leader is in questionable mental health.

Obviously, the man has had problems of one sort or another for some time, but this almost implies that his mental state has evolved into something altogether worse. If so, it could certainly be entertaining if that "live one-on-one debate" idea resurfaced now.
