I suppose it was really just a matter of time:

Springer already has started airing 30-minute infomercials designed to raise awareness and money for a possible run against Ohio's incumbent Republican George Voinovich.
The infomercials will air for two weeks in several U.S. cities, such as Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Antonio and New York. But they are not immediately slated to air in Ohio because of concern over equal access for other candidates.

First off, I don't understand why he's airing commercials in major markets that do not include his possible constituency. Is anyone really stupid enough to send money to his campaign? From another state, even?

Secondly -- you know there are just so many things wrong with this picture that I don't even know where to go next. Sure it might be fun to see Jerry on the campaign trail in a double-wide. And we all hope the debate will be as exciting as his show, I guess. But isn't there a real problem when membership in the United States Senate is offered to -- well, Jerry Springer?

I shudder to think about who's next.
