Herman's Letter
I received an email from John Kerry today: Dear Swifty, This much is clear already. Judge Roberts is no Sandra Day O'Connor. Last night we learned that President Bush wants to replace a woman who voted to uphold Roe v. Wade with a man who argued against Roe v. Wade, and that sends a clear signal that this White House remains bent on opening old wounds and dividing America. Heh heh, Swifty. I couldn't resist. Regardless of where one stands on abortion (me: ambivalent, as usual), it is interesting to frame the argument as "dividing America" and "opening old wounds." One could argue, quite logically, that the status quo is doing a fair job of "dividing America" right now. There are differences of opinion regarding abortion? You don't say! I thought we were all foursquare on John Kerry's side until evil Bushitler brought in one of his neocon judges to upset the apple cart. posted by the wolf | 10:02 PMon this |
