Chicago?

Daniel Engber in Slate asks, "Why Is Chicago So Corrupt?" Well, I won't necessarily argue the broad point that Chicago is corrupt; after all, you can't have that many numbskull Democrat pols around and not expect at least a modicum of corruption, but it's curious why Chicago is targeted when the photo accompanying the front page link includes a picture of former Governor Georgy Ryan (that's ILLINOIS gov, not Chicago gov, Daniel) and the story he links to from the Sun-Times tallies up the guilty parties and finds that less than half of those indicted are explicitly local politicians.
